Housing Now is a co-host this year of the Second Annual Queer Housing Summit. Check it out!
The location is both virtual and in person at the historic Tower Theater Lounge in the heart of Fresno’s Tower District community. The Tower District is home to Fresno’s Rainbow Pride Parade and has historically been a place for queer folks to live, convene, and build community together. It is a natural space to gather and share our vision for safe, affirming, accessible and affordable housing for ourselves and our loved ones.
This year’s line up is an exciting mix of workshops, presentations, and
roundtables around: Renting and Ownership, Policy, Advocacy, Elders, and
Community Building. The website includes the day’s agenda.
The keynote speaker is Madeline Pendleton, CEO and founder of Tunnel Vision. Madeline will also meet and greet with guests as she signs copies of her new book I Survived Capitalism and All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt.
This work is deeply important and we hope that your organization will attend and to help us invite others to voice the need for more affordable and sustainable homes and communities in California.
Housing is a human right that provides safety and comfort for our bodies and minds. Within the queer community, we know all about building chosen families and relying on each other when we need to overcome discrimination. Everyday, we are building on the legacies of ancestors who dreamed of a world where we can thrive and are safe from harm and violence. We need each other now more than ever!
Join us 9 am – 6 pm, Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Historic Tower Theater in Fresno,
California, as we build on this vision and work.
We will enjoy lunch from CDT Cocina and will have Spanish & ASL interpretation. Again, you can also join us virtually. We welcome you to register at bit.ly/qhs24 and share any needs or questions you may have. There is a $20 ticket price to help us cover lunch, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
