At the SV@Home Action Fund, we want to see good people apply for and win appointments to local boards and commissions. These bodies are an important part of what makes our local democracies strong. Boards and commissions are a great way to provide public service without having to run for office, and it will give you a chance to help shape public policy and practice. Boards and commissions are primarily advisory, and the guidance they provide sets the stage for what city councils decide.
There are some openings now and there will be many more over the course of 2026 across Santa Clara County. Below are just a few we want to highlight. Look up your city’s website, contact your city clerk, and start exploring what opportunities are available in your jurisdiction! Even if you don’t find something for you, you might find something that would be perfect for someone in your community/family/network.
