Getting Inclusionary Housing Right

JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24TH 12PM

Cities across Santa Clara County are considering this powerful tool to build more new affordable homes without subsidy.

But done wrong it can fall short, or even stop the development of new homes in its tracks. Learn how it works, and how to get it right!

Many of our local cities are joining forces right now in a shared nexus study, the wonky and in-depth analysis that assesses the feasibility of local residential development and the potential for developers of market-rate housing to add a share of affordable homes to their buildings.

If cities require too few affordable homes or affordability that’s too shallow, they leave public benefits on the table. Too much, and developers can’t build any housing at all.

Come hear about local cities that are getting it right: successfully using inclusionary housing policies to achieve mixed-income communities, generate funding to subsidize deeper levels of affordability, and gain valuable land for affordable homes!

ICYMI: Community Roots Collaborative’s final two meetings for 2024

Share:

SV@Home continues to bring together a cohort of over 15 Santa Clara County-based nonprofit organizations, known as the Community Roots Collaborative (CRC), to learn more about and facilitate the establishment of community development corporations (CDCs) in our county.

In October and November, we met twice – our final two meetings of 2024.  In October, we talked through the real estate development finance basics and in November we started planning for our next round of CRC convenings in 2025 (likely to start in Spring 2025).

We would like to thank the Bill Wilson Center for hosting the October CRC convening and to Sacred Heart Community Services for hosting the November convening.  Also, a special thanks to the South Bay Community Land Trust and Sacred Heart Community Services for presenting updates about their process to engage in community development activities!

For more information about the CRC program, including if you are interested in joining the cohort for 2025, please contact Kenneth Javier-Rosales at kenneth@siliconvalleyathome.org.
