State Takes Action on Housing

California Housing & Community Development

The State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) made a number of important announcements last week.

Los Altos Leaders Amend ADU Ordinance

The Los Altos City Council took action to amend the City’s Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) ordinance during its June 26 council meeting.

The City of Palo Alto hosted a June 28 community conversation to allow residents to provide input on Palo Alto’s Housing Work Plan, Housing Element, and comprehensive plan housing policies.

The Santa Clara City Council held a study session to discuss the Tasman East Specific Plan on June 26 and is actively considering options to increase the density of the mixed-use area to accommodate up to 4,500 new homes.

Sunnyvale City Council Takes Action on Lawrence Station Area Plan

Sunnyvale City leaders discussed changes to the proposed Lawrence Station Area Plan (LSAP) at the June 26 city council meeting, considering several scenarios that would increase housing opportunities in the plan area.

San Jose housing department will gather community input on the development and operation of the city’s first proposed Bridge Housing Communities (BHC) at 4 community meetings over the next few weeks.
