Randy Shaw is the Director of the Tenderloin Housing Clinic, San Francisco’s leading provider of permanent housing for homeless single adults. Shaw’s leadership includes management of over 2000 residents and over 20 SRO hotels. Shaw has also worked with builders for decades. In November 1994 he authored a winning ballot measure creating a new Department of Building Inspection. The measure expedited the city’s permit processing and improved housing code enforcement.  Shaw’s recent book, Generation Priced Out: Who Gets to Live in the New Urban America, is a call for action for “blue” cities to build a lot more housing. Shaw is also the editor of BeyondChron.org, and the author of many books on activism.
