The Housing Needs of Undocumented Residents

JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON FRIDAY, JULY 25TH 12PM

Undocumented immigrants face unique and often invisible barriers to housing—exclusion from federal programs, fear of retaliation, and discriminatory screening practices.

Join us for a timely conversation on how we can break down these barriers and advance housing solutions that include everyone—regardless of immigration status.

We’ll explore:
– Why undocumented immigrants are excluded from key housing programs
– How fear and discrimination drive housing instability
– Local policies and community-based models creating real change

Join the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) on July 29th, 2021 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. for an overview on how local jurisdictions can apply to the Prohousing Designation Program, and gain Prohousing status.

Jurisdictions that adopt local policies to facilitate the planning, approval, and construction of housing beyond state law can apply to receive the Prohousing Designation, which helps boost a jurisdiction’s competitiveness in funding applications.

Prohousing jurisdictions are awarded additional points or preference when they apply for the following programs that further state housing, equity, and climate goals:

  • Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC)
  • Transformative Climate Communities (TCC)
  • Infill Infrastructure Grant (IIG)
  • And more to come!
