The Housing Needs of Undocumented Residents

JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON FRIDAY, JULY 25TH 12PM

Undocumented immigrants face unique and often invisible barriers to housing—exclusion from federal programs, fear of retaliation, and discriminatory screening practices.

Join us for a timely conversation on how we can break down these barriers and advance housing solutions that include everyone—regardless of immigration status.

We’ll explore:
– Why undocumented immigrants are excluded from key housing programs
– How fear and discrimination drive housing instability
– Local policies and community-based models creating real change

Now is the time to ensure San Jose neighborhoods are for communities, not corporations. Increasingly, our homes are being bought by large investment companies who value profit, and not what makes San Jose, San Jose—us! That’s why we need the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act (COPA) in San Jose! Passing a new COPA law in the city will make sure that community members, not corporations, have a chance to buy their homes. Can you help bring COPA to our city by joining an upcoming meeting and expressing your support?

The City of San José Housing Department will hold two public meetings this month to discuss the  Community Opportunity to Purchase (COPA) program. This is a chance for you to tune in and share your support of the campaign, ask any questions you may have, or provide input. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18th , 2-4pm PST via Zoom. You can register here

Sharing your support for COPA at the meeting is easy, just tune in and share your name, where you live, and say you support bringing COPA to San Jose. Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese interpretation will be available.
