The Bay Area Housing Finance Authority (BAHFA) will be releasing the first components of its Bay Area Eviction Study at the end of the month. The report products include:
- Evictions in the Nine County Bay Area, a comprehensive report focused on the analysis of rates, causes and features of eviction lawsuits throughout the region.
- Tenant Legal Services in the Nine County Bay Area, a report focused on the region’s tenant legal services capacity and services for tenants facing eviction and related issues.
- An interactive data tool that allows users to select and review data on eviction lawsuits and sheriff lockouts in specific counties and ZIP codes.
BAHFA and the research team will hold two webinars to provide an overview of this research. The webinar for Evictions in the Nine County Bay Area will be Tuesday, July 29, at 1 p.m. Register for the Evictions report webinar.
On Thursday, July 31, at 11 a.m., BAHFA and the research team will hold a webinar on Tenant Legal Services in the Nine County Bay Area. Register for the Tenant Legal Services report webinar.
This research is the first of its kind in the Bay Area to focus on the rates and characteristics of evictions at the regional level. Overall, the study found that the rates of court evictions have returned to or surpassed pre-pandemic levels in eight of the nine counties. BAHFA plans to release additional reports and information from the study on the BAHFA webpage in the coming months.
