SV@Home remembers Former Cupertino Mayor Hung Wei, a joyful and compassionate regional leader who championed housing, mentored young officials, and brought people together in her community.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Former Cupertino Mayor Hung Wei, a dedicated public servant and steadfast advocate for housing in her community. Hung believed in building inclusive cities where everyone could thrive, and she brought thoughtfulness, compassion, and collaboration to every regional conversation on housing.

Today, we said goodbye to Former Mayor Hung Wei. As a neighboring city leader, she brought people together with joy and generosity. She respected different perspectives and had a remarkable ability to build bridges—even in challenging conversations. She mentored and uplifted many young elected officials—including myself.
Hung worked with so much joy in every space she entered—whether on regional boards, in community service, or advocating for the causes she believed in. Her warmth, presence, and leadership will be deeply missed.
We at SV@Home are grateful for her advocacy, her example, and her partnership in advancing housing solutions across the region.
Our hearts are with her family, the City of Cupertino, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be deeply grateful for donations to Hung’s chosen charities:
Fremont Union High School Foundation
Cupertino Rotary Endowment Foundation
