Intentional community engagement can shape well-loved buildings that: 1) last longer,
2) strengthen communities, and 3) spark enduring change. However, when designers are asked to lead engagement without training, it can have unintended consequences.

This session explores successful, values-driven approaches that build stakeholder networks and promote understanding. Using case studies and interactive activities, we’ll demonstrate how authentic, transparent engagement promotes culturally-relevant places that result in wide community benefits. We will practice tools for advancing justice, equity, and legacy in your own work, reimagining engagement as a transformative tool for the future.

This event is a part of Affordable Housing Month 2026.
