We are excited to announce today that Michael Lane will join SV@Home in January as Deputy Director, where he will have the opportunity to work at the local level after years of making a significant impact on affordable housing in Sacramento and throughout the Bay Area. Michael joins us after an impressive seven and a half year run at the Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California (NPH) where he served as Policy Director.
For those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to meet Michael, here is a very brief statement of his impressive body of work—
Michael got his start working for the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, igniting his passion for affordable housing and leading him to Self-Help Enterprises (SHE), where he spent 10 years working on all things nonprofit– including fundraising, special events, communications, government affairs, and management and personnel. SHE, located in Visalia, is the oldest and largest nonprofit developer of mutual self-help housing in the nation.
Since 2011, Michael has served as NPH’s Policy Director, formulating and executing local, regional, state, and federal policy and funding initiatives. Michael has been instrumental over the years in ensuring many wins for affordable housing, including the recent passage of last year’s 15-bill State housing package, the Palmer Fix bill that reaffirmed local authority to administer inclusionary housing requirements, and legislation to strengthen public surplus land law.
Michael graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Religion, speaks fluent Spanish, and is a former City Councilmember for the City of Visalia. He has served on numerous boards and commissions, including Housing California and the Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County.
Michael’s relationships with NPH and the Housing Leadership Council will strengthen SV@Home’s connections with our regional partners.
Please join us in welcoming Michael to the SV@Home family. You can meet Michael at the SV@Home Holiday Party on December 12th. In the meantime, you can also send him a message at michael@siliconvalleyathome.org or follow him on twitter.
Michael will formally join us on January 7th.
