At the March 19, 2019 Council Meeting, the City Council directed staff to draft an Oversized Vehicle Parking Prohibition Ordinance and a Safe Parking Ordinance. According to the city’s Future Agenda Items calendar, the City Council is scheduled to hold a hearing on the resulting ordinances on June 11th. The Oversized Vehicle Parking Ban has been highly controversial. The ACLU, Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, and Stanford Community Law Clinic have sent letters to the council questioning the ban’s constitutionality. Advocates have also pointed out that the proposed safe parking ordinance will not provide nearly enough spaces to host the number of large vehicles being used for shelter in Mountain View.

Full information and updates on the city’s RV Parking Prohibition and Safe Parking Ordinance can be found on the city’s site.
