Santa Clara County is celebrating major progress on affordable housing with five developments recently breaking ground or opening their doors. Made possible through the 2016 Affordable Housing Bond (2016’s Measure A), these projects will provide hundreds of affordable homes for families, seniors, veterans, and residents overcoming homelessness in San José and Los Altos.
Over the past few weeks, Santa Clara County has marked five major milestones in affordable housing, with new communities breaking ground and others celebrating their grand openings. Together, these developments will bring more than 500 affordable homes to families, seniors, veterans, and vulnerable residents across San José and Los Altos. None of this progress would have been possible without the 2016 Affordable Housing Bond, which gave our community the local dollars needed to unlock state and federal resources and build lasting assets for generations to come.

Why This Matters
These recent milestones highlight more than just new housing—they showcase what’s possible when local communities invest in solutions. The 2016 Affordable Housing Bond not only met but surpassed its original goals, helping fund thousands of homes and drawing in critical state and federal dollars along the way. With those funds now fully committed and the housing crisis showing no signs of slowing, it’s clear that continued investment through future local revenue measures will be essential to keep this momentum alive and ensure every resident has a place to call home.
Let’s celebrate these victories, and build on them. To continue delivering the homes we need, we must support new funding measures that carry forward the legacy of the 2016 Affordable Housing Bond.
