Join local San Jose artist Arely Cardenas and SV@Home’s own Gabriela Chavez-Lopez in an interview to kick off Affordable Housing Month! Throughout the month of May, our fifth annual public education and awareness campaign will convene regional partners and community members in creative community engagement opportunities, in a time when the importance of a secure, safe, and affordable home has become even more crucial.
For AHM Silicon Valley, our theme this year — Be My Neighbor — is even more vital. The global pandemic, coupled with our ongoing housing challenges, has made for a public health crisis at unprecedented scale. Yet even as we practice physical distancing, we are seeing in magnified ways how much we rely on the people, nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies around us for our individual and societal well-being.
Arely is the featured artist in the first segment of our Affordable Housing Month Lunchtime Draw-Along, a fun weekly series featuring local artists. On May 5, take a little time in the middle of your day to reflect as Arely guides us in drawing an original piece that interprets “Home.”
