Affordably Housing California’s Essential “Missing Middle”

Affordable Housing Month

This event is hosted by Catalyst Housing Group as part of Affordable Housing Month 2021.

Join our panel of experts to discuss innovative ways to house California’s essential middle-income workforce

Catalyst Housing Group (“Catalyst”) has pioneered an innovative financing solution focused on the production, preservation and protection of middle-income housing. Our Essential Housing model provides desperately needed affordability to California’s “missing middle” – the essential workforce who often earns in excess of traditional affordable housing limits yet not enough to reside sustainably within the communities they serve.

Since collaborating on the 2019 formation of the California Community Housing Agency (“CalCHA”), California’s first public agency focused exclusively on middle-income housing production, Catalyst and CalCHA have partnered to acquire ~2,800 market-rate rental communities that are now perpetually rent-restricted to essential, middle-income households.

Join our panel of experts to discuss this innovative housing model, the experiences of our city partners, and the program’s impacts on the affordable housing industry at large.

Joining us will be:

  • Jordan Moss, Founder, Catalyst Housing Grou
  • Ben Metcalf, Managing Director, Terner Center for Housing Innovation
  • Jenniffer Ott, Assistant City Manager, City of Hayward

Please contact Jordan Moss at jordan@catalysthousing.com with any questions.
