There are almost 380,000 affordable homes across California funded by the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC). These affordable homes provide safe, affordable and stable homes but tenants have limited tenant protections. While LIHTC provides a vague standard that households can only be evicted for “good cause,” these developments are exempt from many other tenants’ rights laws, such as the California Tenant Protection Act (AB 1482). Panelists from tenant advocacy organization and nonprofit affordable housing developers will discuss where things currently stand, what that has meant for tenants, and what can be done to improve the experience of affordable housing tenants across California.
Cost to attend is $10. If cost is an issue, please email NPH Events and Fund Development Associate Andrew@nonprofithousing.org. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
