This webinar, presented by Chris Middleton, Staff Attorney and Equal Justice Works Fellow, sponsored by Baker McKenzie & Salesforce, Inc. (Youth Law Center) and Madeleine Wykstra, Project Lead (Youth Law Center), will provide an overview of the key components of the Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) Housing Choice Voucher program, how recent updates have made these vouchers more accessible to youth, and how legal aid attorneys can help their transition age clients secure stable housing to prevent homelessness through this voucher program. Our presenters will discuss important changes to the FYI program, the role of advocates in the referral/application process, and best practices for advocates to use if their county is not accessing FYI vouchers for young people. There will be opportunities for participation and time for questions and answers. 1.5 hours of general MCLE credit will be available for California attorneys.
