Getting Inclusionary Housing Right

JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24TH 12PM

Cities across Santa Clara County are considering this powerful tool to build more new affordable homes without subsidy.

But done wrong it can fall short, or even stop the development of new homes in its tracks. Learn how it works, and how to get it right!

Many of our local cities are joining forces right now in a shared nexus study, the wonky and in-depth analysis that assesses the feasibility of local residential development and the potential for developers of market-rate housing to add a share of affordable homes to their buildings.

If cities require too few affordable homes or affordability that’s too shallow, they leave public benefits on the table. Too much, and developers can’t build any housing at all.

Come hear about local cities that are getting it right: successfully using inclusionary housing policies to achieve mixed-income communities, generate funding to subsidize deeper levels of affordability, and gain valuable land for affordable homes!

Please join Senator Connie M. Leyva and the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for a webinar on the Emergency Rental and Utility Assistance Program. This program is available to California residents, particularly for individuals and families living in mobilehomes / manufactured homes, who have been affected by COVID-19 and are past due on their rent and or utilities, or are in danger of being evicted.

Although changes in the eviction protections are coming on September 30, it is not too late to apply for assistance. The COVID-19 pandemic has worsened California’s housing crisis in communities across our state, so it is important that we continue to offer information and resources to affected residents.

Mobilehomes provide a critical option for affordable housing in our state and we will offer up-to-date information regarding rental assistance to residents living in mobilehomes and manufactured homes.

Watch the livestream on Senator Leyva’s website or on Facebook.

Please email your questions no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday,

Submit your questions to Eric.Guerra@sen.ca.gov with “Mobilehome Webinar” in the subject line and the name of your mobilehome park in the message. We will do our best to answer all emailed questions during the event. For questions not addressed due to time constraints, our Select Committee staff will follow up with individuals to get their questions answered.
