Our June Policy in Action (PIA) event focused on the critical housing needs of the senior LGBTQ+ community. This virtual event spotlights the 65-unit Senior project at 675 E. Santa Clara Street and discuss how innovative projects like this are essential in addressing the unique needs of this community. Designed to provide a supportive, inclusive environment for senior LGBTQ+ community members and allies, the project highlights the importance of such developments and encourages policy measures to incentivize similar projects in the future.
Featuring:
Ken Yeager, Executive Director of the BAYMEC Foundation and Former Santa Clara County Supervisor
Dixie Lira-Baus, Director, Acquisitions and Special Projects at Eden Housing, Inc.
Together, they will provide an in-depth look at the project’s intentional design, unit mix, amenities, and development challenges, while also discussing the history and significance of the project in meeting the specific housing needs of the senior LGBTQ+ community.
SV@Home’s Policy in Action @ Home series (PIA) is a monthly, informal discussion convening Housers to engage on hot housing topics. Every month, we select a topic or current event, bring in an expert to give a brief presentation or interview, and then open up the discussion to ask questions, float new ideas, and identify potential areas for shared action.
SV@Home strives to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please email events@siliconvalleyathome.org
