Getting Inclusionary Housing Right

JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24TH 12PM

Cities across Santa Clara County are considering this powerful tool to build more new affordable homes without subsidy.

But done wrong it can fall short, or even stop the development of new homes in its tracks. Learn how it works, and how to get it right!

Many of our local cities are joining forces right now in a shared nexus study, the wonky and in-depth analysis that assesses the feasibility of local residential development and the potential for developers of market-rate housing to add a share of affordable homes to their buildings.

If cities require too few affordable homes or affordability that’s too shallow, they leave public benefits on the table. Too much, and developers can’t build any housing at all.

Come hear about local cities that are getting it right: successfully using inclusionary housing policies to achieve mixed-income communities, generate funding to subsidize deeper levels of affordability, and gain valuable land for affordable homes!

In this interactive webinar, we will introduce an approach that you can use right away in your team development, strategic planning, decision-making, and culture building to nurture strong and just organizations!  Users have shared:

  • This approach helped me trust my lived experience
  • It allows us to speak up, question norms, and create new approaches
  • It builds on what we know works when partnering with community
  • It gave us credibility when putting the focus on people.

“Liberatory Design is both a flexible process that can be used by teams and a set of equity leadership habits that can be practiced daily.”

Liberatory Leadership fosters self-awareness, acknowledges the way inequities are built into our systems, and shifts the power of designing solutions to those who are most impacted.

Through engaging visual images, easy to apply concepts that speak through community based wisdom, Liberatory Leaders are able build on their existing strengths to do the following even better:

  • Build relational trust
  • Recognize bias and positionality
  • Connect history to today
  • Involve residents and staff in decision making
  • Work with fear and discomfort
  • Attend to healing
  • Take action to learn

And more!

Want more? We’ll share about future opportunities to engage with this concept further in an intensive program where we get to see Liberatory Leadership develop in real time catered to your organization’s needs! Sign up today!
