Join SV@Home for a conversation about the connection between safe, stable housing and health outcomes.

Housing is one the most fundamental social determinants of health. Studies have shown again and again that having a safe, stable home is key to being able to lead a healthy life. Importantly, research has also demonstrated that providing our unhoused neighbors with a secure home helps them access needed medical care and stay out of the emergency room.

The COVID-19 pandemic laid bare the direct connection between housing inequity and poorer health outcomes. Lower income communities and people of color who lacked access to affordable housing and lived in overcrowded settings have been, and continue to be, at greater risk of contracting COVID. At no other time has it been more clear that access to affordable housing can be the difference between life and death.

Join SV@Home for a discussion on the connection between safe, stable housing and health outcomes. We’ll discuss how housing figures into social determinants of health and how we can make the connection between the importance of affordable housing and a healthy community for all.

The HAC is a monthly, informal brownbag discussion convening Housers to engage on hot housing topics. Every month, we select a topic or current event, bring in an expert to give a brief presentation, and then open up the discussion to ask questions, float new ideas, and identify potential areas for shared action.

This event is open to SV@Home members and the general public. Interested in supporting ongoing SV@Home programming, advocacy, and policy work? Become a member and/or renew your membership today here.
