Panel discussing local opposition to Project Homekey sites in the Bay Area. Co-hosted by SV@Home for Affordable Housing Month.

This panel-style event, featuring a group of undergraduate Stanford students as well as Bob Stromberg of Destination: Home, will present on the narratives and tactics of local opposition to Project Homekey, focusing on four sites in Silicon Valley. Project Homekey is a recently issued California policy allowing local governments and public entities to apply for funds to convert motels and hotels to permanent housing for low income and homeless populations. The Stanford students are currently enrolled in a community engaged Urban Studies course taught by Professor Michael Kahan studying the historic and contemporary issues of gentrification in the United States. The students and the course are in partnership with SV@Home and a multitude of other local affordable housing groups.
