Join us for our September PIA to learn about the local tenant preference policy coming before the San Jose City Council!

The City of San Jose adopted an anti-displacement strategy in 2020. In this strategy, one of the recommendations was to: Establish a Neighborhood Tenant Preference and Anti-Displacement Preference for Affordable Housing.

This policy would set aside a proportion of units in City-funded affordable developments to be reserved for income qualifying applicants from specific neighborhoods where the risk of displacement is the greatest and/or applicants from the neighborhood where the affordable housing development is located.

In order to guarantee fairness and accessibility, these tenant preferences must align with the regulations of fair housing laws. They should be executed as components of a set of policies aimed at fostering inclusivity and striving to integrate diverse community members.

SV@Home strives to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please email cesia@siliconvalleyathome.org
