In the Bay Area, a housing shortage and skyrocketing rents have resulted in a displacement crisis among low-income people in the communities surrounding Stanford. As families face unmanageable rent increases, tenancy terminations, and eviction notices, they often lack access to representation to assert their legal defenses.

At Stanford’s Community Law Clinic (CLC), law students and instructors are working to address this crisis through individual cases and policy advocacy.

Professor Juliet Brodie will share more about the CLC, a direct services, trial practice clinic in Palo Alto where Stanford law students represent clients in housing cases as well as social security disability and criminal record expungement matters. Join us to learn more about how clinical education shapes future lawyers while providing critical legal services to underserved individuals and communities. We will also hear opening remarks from Jenny Martinez, the Richard E. Lang Professor of Law and Dean of Stanford Law School.

This virtual event is free and open to all. We hope you’ll join us!
