JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON FRIDAY, JULY 25TH 12PM

Undocumented immigrants face unique and often invisible barriers to housing—exclusion from federal programs, fear of retaliation, and discriminatory screening practices.

Join us for a timely conversation on how we can break down these barriers and advance housing solutions that include everyone—regardless of immigration status.

We’ll explore:
– Why undocumented immigrants are excluded from key housing programs
– How fear and discrimination drive housing instability
– Local policies and community-based models creating real change

Join us this Thursday for The Future Climate: Climate Leaders, a webinar series of short talks and Q&A’s that features experts on adapting to climate change through smart city planning and conservation. This week, we’re chatting with East Oakland Collective’s Director of Urban and Regional Planning, Marquita Price about some of the key equity and climate issues that East Oakland is facing.

The East Oakland Collective—one of the most effective grassroots organizations serving communities in East Oakland—has gained recognition for their incredible efforts to provide resources to unhoused, elderly, and disabled communities. So when COVID-19 hit and their food distribution and urban planning efforts were initially suspended due to health concerns, the Collective quickly pivoted their model to scale to support even more people than they did pre-COVID. The fact that this two-woman team, supported by dedicated volunteers, could scale so quickly during a time of crisis is impressive. We’re excited to talk to Marquita about this work on Thursday. It’s a conversation you won’t want to miss.
