El Camino Real Specific Plan Area

SV@HOME joined with 20 other organizations and community members to talk about how to create a walkable commercial corridor complemented by thousands of new housing units in Santa Clara during the inaugural meeting of the El Camino Real Specific Plan Community Advisory Committee (CAC) on Tuesday, February 22.

SV@HOME has been consistent in its position that specific plans along transit corridors adopt affordability targets beyond their inclusionary mandates.

This recognizes that in large planning areas there are opportunities for both mixed income housing and 100% affordable homes.

Santa Clara’s recently updated Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance requires 15% affordable units on site. It is expected that the CAC will meet throughout the year with a final plan expected in early 2019.

Stay tuned for more information about the next public meeting, which we anticipate will be scheduled in early summer.
