The Santa Clara County board of supervisors declared May 11 to May 18 as Affordable Housing Week during their regular May 8 meeting.

In remarks that will resonate throughout the year, Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors President Joe Simitian said:

“Officially, Affordable Housing Week will run from May 11 through May 18, but unofficially I think we would do well to declare every week affordable housing week, because if there’s one thing I know we all understand it’s that the need for more affordable housing is pressing indeed.”

The City of Sunnyvale followed suit later that night, while other South Bay cities issued similar proclamations at their regularly scheduled May meetings.

Many thanks to everyone who prepared, presented, and accepted the proclamations throughout the week and kudos to our partners including the City of San Jose, which broke a record for the number of people to accept an Affordable Housing Week proclamation!
