Santa Teresa Multifamily Affordable Housing Community Breaks Ground

Share:

SV@Home joined community leaders and partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Santa Teresa affordable housing development in South San José, a milestone years in the making. The 49-home, 100% affordable community will create long-term housing stability for low-income residents, reflecting the power of partnership in advancing housing solutions.

Earlier this week, SV@Home joined elected leaders, funders, and community partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Santa Teresa affordable housing community at 5885 Santa Teresa Boulevard in South San Jose. The moment marked more than the start of construction, it represented years of collaboration and a shared commitment to creating stable, affordable homes for residents who need them most. We were proud to stand alongside the many partners who helped move this project from concept to reality and to celebrate the beginning of a new multifamily community.

Led by Charities Housing, the Santa Teresa development will deliver 49 new, 100% affordable homes serving low income households, including residents with supportive housing needs. Built on a 1.46 acre site, the project will transform an underutilized surface parking lot into three thoughtfully designed residential buildings that expand housing opportunities in South San Jose. By combining long term affordability with proximity to transit, and community amenities, Santa Teresa reflects a people centered response to our region’s housing challenges, creating homes where residents can build stability and opportunity.

We are deeply grateful to the many partners who helped make this milestone possible, including Charities Housing, public agency partners, housing funders and investors, community stakeholders, and advocates who worked tirelessly to bring this project forward. Santa Teresa is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when communities work together toward a shared goal. SV@Home looks forward to continuing to support this effort and to celebrating again with the full project team when the community officially opens its doors to its future residents.

Stay connected as Santa Teresa moves forward, and join us as we continue advocating for more affordable housing across San José and our region.
