SV@Home Invites Community to Affordable Housing Month 2022 – Silicon Valley

SAN JOSE, Calif. – April 20, 2022 – SV@Home today announced that Affordable Housing Month 2022 – Silicon Valley invites community members to get involved in alleviating the region’s housing crisis by participating in any of the more than 50 workshops, webinars and interactive events intended to raise awareness, educate and encourage advocacy. Silicon Valley residents are urged to learn about and take part in the public processes and policies that can make housing more affordable and accessible to people of all incomes and abilities.

“We welcome everyone to join us in May to explore our ‘Reimagining Home’ theme for Affordable Housing Month 2022,” said Regina Celestin Williams, Executive Director for SV@Home. “We believe this is an opportunity to shift the collective perspective on housing solutions and create more equitable, inclusive and restorative communities. The events planned for our 2022 program offer out-of-the-box thinking and knowledge enrichment to inspire a vision for Silicon Valley’s future where everyone thrives.”

Some of the more than 50 events scheduled for this year’s line-up include:

  • Innovative Approaches for Truly Inclusive Development

  • How Your County is Spending Your Affordable Housing Money

  • Restorative Economics and Decommodifying Housing

  • Effective Messaging to Better Shape Housing Policy

  • Intro to Homelessness and Supportive Housing

 

These community events will include experts in the housing field, including community leaders, elected officials, planning experts, developers, housing advocates, and legal experts. Some of the events will offer translation for Spanish, Vietnamese, or other languages. Many of the events will be conducted virtually, but some provide the hybrid or in-person access.
