Take Action: Give Feedback on Application for State Prohousing Designation

California’s Prohousing Designation, awarded to cities that are going above and beyond state housing law to remove barriers to housing production, gives designees an advantage in competitive funding applications and opens up access to dedicated sources of funding. Now the City of San Jose is applying to be Prohousing, and needs your feedback before August 17th!

California’s Prohousing Designation, awarded to cities that are going above and beyond state housing law to remove barriers to housing production, gives designees an advantage in competitive funding applications and opens up access to dedicated sources of funding. Now the City of San Jose is applying to be Prohousing, and needs your feedback! Submit a comment on San José’s application by August 17 to acknowledge progress, raise concerns, and advocate for stronger action where it’s needed. Read more about the Prohousing designation, and the cities in Santa Clara County that have received it.

San Jose’s Prohousing application is based on and summarizes programs from its Housing Element that are designed to increase or accelerate housing production. To learn more and ask questions about the Prohousing Designation and application, attend the Housing Department’s August community engagement series meeting on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 4pm to 5pm. This online meeting is open to everyone.
