Youth Housing Summit
An On The Table event hosted by SV@Home

The Youth Housing Summit is an opportunity for Youth Commissioners around the county to come together, share a meal, and discuss the one of the biggest issues facing Santa Clara County: the housing affordability crisis. This event is part of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s On The Table Series, in which people around the Bay Area come together on October 23rd to talk about the most significant issues in our communities.
The event will feature a short introduction by Supervisor Cindy Chavez, followed by a dinner and a discussion among the Youth Commissioners of topics like what home means to them, rising rents and house prices, student/university housing, teacher housing, and retaining Silicon Valley’s diversity. In order to make sure that the commissioners’ perspectives are widely heard, we will be putting together a report based on the discussion to provide them a countywide platform. We aim to highlight the report through print media and make it accessible to elected officials, as well as promote through SV@Home’s newsletter, social media, etc.
Logistics
Dinner will be served in the lobby outside the Board of Supervisors chambers from 6:00-6:30pm, and the discussion itself will take place from 6:30-7:30pm in Room 157, adjacent to the Board of Supervisors Chambers. SV@Home staff will be at the front door to direct commissioners as necessary.
Parking can be found at the County Employee Lot across the street from 70 West Hedding Street, on Hedding Street between North 1st Street and North San Pedro Street. The County lot is open to non-employees beginning at 5pm.

If a Youth Commissioner is unable to attend, one of their Youth Advisory Council members can attend in their stead (if your city has such a system).
