JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON FRIDAY, JULY 25TH 12PM

Undocumented immigrants face unique and often invisible barriers to housing—exclusion from federal programs, fear of retaliation, and discriminatory screening practices.

Join us for a timely conversation on how we can break down these barriers and advance housing solutions that include everyone—regardless of immigration status.

We’ll explore:
– Why undocumented immigrants are excluded from key housing programs
– How fear and discrimination drive housing instability
– Local policies and community-based models creating real change

Join us for this critical conversation on opportunity housing, continued from the Task Force’s July meeting. City Staff propose allowing single-family parcels currently designated “Residential Neighborhood” to be redeveloped to 2-4 units per parcel, but only near Urban Villages or adjacent to lots with existing multifamily units.

They refer to this as “opportunity housing,” since these homes can provide much-needed housing that is often more affordable than a single-family home, expanding opportunities for more families to live in San Jose. The gentle density of 2-4 units per parcel has already existed seamlessly in many San Jose neighborhoods prior to the current single-family zoning, in the form of duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, and ADUs.

SV@Home recommends that zoning for 2-4 units per parcel- opportunity housing- be expanded to all residential parcels, and endorses a robust planning process to make sure we do it right.[spacer height=”20px”]
