Getting Inclusionary Housing Right

JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24TH 12PM

Cities across Santa Clara County are considering this powerful tool to build more new affordable homes without subsidy.

But done wrong it can fall short, or even stop the development of new homes in its tracks. Learn how it works, and how to get it right!

Many of our local cities are joining forces right now in a shared nexus study, the wonky and in-depth analysis that assesses the feasibility of local residential development and the potential for developers of market-rate housing to add a share of affordable homes to their buildings.

If cities require too few affordable homes or affordability that’s too shallow, they leave public benefits on the table. Too much, and developers can’t build any housing at all.

Come hear about local cities that are getting it right: successfully using inclusionary housing policies to achieve mixed-income communities, generate funding to subsidize deeper levels of affordability, and gain valuable land for affordable homes!

SV@Home Honors Community Partners for Hispanic Heritage Month

Share:
Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual celebration of Latinx history and culture across the United States. The event, which spans from September 15 to October 15, commemorates how Latinx communities have influenced and contributed to American society at large. At SV@Home, we honor our trusted partners who dedicate their lives to organizing, advocating, and serving the Latinx community throughout Silicon Valley to uplift their voices, fight for justice, and provide the everyday necessities for those in need. We also recognize the richness in culture the Latinx community adds to our way of life, experiences, and perspectives. We appreciate the kindness, willingness, and patience of our partners to collaborate with us as we move forward together on the difficult path to more equitably transform Silicon Valley into a place where we can afford to live in and thrive. We would like to thank the Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley, SOMOS Mayfair, Amigos de Guadalupe, School of Arts and Culture, Si Se Puede Collective, Latinos United for a New America (LUNA), the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, and the countless others we did not name, including the Latinx individuals who work in other kinds of organizations.
