Fair Rents, Fair Bills: Understanding Rent & Utility Regulations

JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH 12PM

Join us for a learning session about San José’s Rent Stabilization Program and possible updates to the city’s rules on how utilities are billed in rental housing (known as Ratio Utility Billing Services, or RUBS).

We’ll break down:

  • What rent stabilization means
  • How RUBS works
  • And what these proposed changes could mean for renters and housing providers

You’ll also learn how to share your feedback and get involved as the city considers these updates and how it can impact you.

SV@Home invites you to the October Silicon Valley Housing Action Coalition (HAC) monthly brownbag event, featuring a discussion on Housing Policy during the 2019 Legislative Session with:

  • Pedro Galvao, Senior Policy Manager, Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California (NPH)

  • Aaron Eckhouse, Regional Organizing Director, California YIMBY

The HAC is a monthly, informal brownbag discussion convening Housers to engage on hot housing topics. Every month, we select a topic or current event, bring in an expert to give a brief presentation, and then open up the discussion to ask questions, float new ideas, and identify potential areas for shared action. We want your feedback and will be looking to participants to recommend future topics you want to see addressed.

Our goal is to create a space where Housers, community leaders, and newcomers alike can chat with their peers over lunch in a relaxed environment and convert your energy and expertise into advocacy opportunities! All are welcome.

So join SV@Home and fellow Housers for an engaging discussion that you can put immediately into advocacy action!
