Where Did the Students Go? Housing & the School Enrollment Crisis

JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH 12PM

Silicon Valley is becoming too expensive for families and our schools are paying the price. Enrollment is dropping, campuses are closing, and beloved school communities are being torn apart.

At the same time, teachers and staff face grueling commutes from far-away cities, while districts struggle to hire and keep the talent our kids deserve.

Join us for an inside look at SV@Home’s exclusive research on Silicon Valley’s enrollment crisis—and discover how affordable housing can keep families in our neighborhoods and strengthen schools across our region.

Draft 2020 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice

In fall 2019, HCD reached out to gather data from Californians on the issues and barriers they face in accessing housing, and to receive input from isolated communities where housing barriers may be compounded by other factors, such as: language access, physical limitations, and immigration status.

HCD is hosting a second round of outreach and invites you to discuss the findings and impediments from the feedback received along with action steps for the Draft 2020 Analysis of Impediments (Draft 2020 AI).

In response to COVID-19, the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is postponing the statewide webinar and changing all in-person public meetings into online-only webinars, an audio and visual seminar conducted over the internet with opportunity for public comment and questions.

Each webinar will be available for participants statewide, but will have a regional focus so stakeholders from each region can provide feedback relevant to their community.
