On Thursday, September 2, from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM, the Santa Clara County Superior Court, with county and community partners, is holding an event where renters and landlords can learn about and apply for emergency rental assistance programs. Qualifying renters and landlords impacted by COVID-19 are now eligible for 100% rent and utilities owed.  If you know someone struggling with rent and/or utilities due to COVID-19 there will be trained staff available, on-site and in-person, to provide information and assist residents and landlords with their rent relief applications.

Located at 201 North First St. San Jose, CA 95113, the 8th floor Judicial Conference Room at the Family Justice Center Courthouse will be open from 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Proper face coverings are required in the courthouse. Walk-ins are welcome, but to schedule an appointment, learn which documents to bring with you, or for more information: email evictionhelp@sanjoseca.gov or call 408-975-4444

“In Santa Clara County and throughout the Bay Area, many are struggling financially and unable to pay rent due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This affects tenants and landlords alike. It is important that everyone know there is assistance available. Our Court is reaching out in partnership with local government to help connect all those financially impacted by the pandemic with the rental relief assistance that is now available to them,” said Presiding Judge Theodore C. Zayner.

For those who cannot join us for this event, please visit SCCRentHelp.org or call 2-1-1 for specific eligibility criteria, information on how to apply, and to connect with community partners available to help residents fill out applications.

The Court has produced a short video and flyers to announce the event. Event flyers are available in additional languages.

The Court recognizes and appreciates the efforts of all our County and community partners who have made this event possible. Special thanks to the Office of Supportive Housing, City of San Jose, and Destination Home.
