JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH 12PM

Join us for a learning session about San José’s Rent Stabilization Program and possible updates to the city’s rules on how utilities are billed in rental housing (known as Ratio Utility Billing Services, or RUBS).

We’ll break down:

  • What rent stabilization means
  • How RUBS works
  • And what these proposed changes could mean for renters and housing providers

You’ll also learn how to share your feedback and get involved as the city considers these updates and how it can impact you.

Nonprofit leaders rate the ongoing affordable housing shortage as an extremely important policy issue that our nonprofit community should tackle. SVCN is pleased to be able to partner with the affordable housing community to bring to you this housing policy series.

This month, we’ll tackle three key housing issues of the day. Our goal is to ensure that nonprofit leaders and their constituents understand the components of the big housing policy decisions that our local governments will be making to have the tools to engage knowledgably as advocates on these issues.

This second deep dive will help nonprofit leaders to understand why community ownership of land in a housing crisis is important and how the debate will unfold at the City of San Jose in upcoming weeks. It will also answer the question: “what is COPA?!”

Our Panelists:

  • Andrea Portillo, SOMOS Mayfair
  • Huascar Castro, Working Partnerships USA
  • Aboubacar Ndiaye, PowerSwitch Action
  • Regina Celestin Williams, SV@Home
