The Housing Needs of Undocumented Residents

JOIN US VIRTUALLY ON FRIDAY, JULY 25TH 12PM

Undocumented immigrants face unique and often invisible barriers to housing—exclusion from federal programs, fear of retaliation, and discriminatory screening practices.

Join us for a timely conversation on how we can break down these barriers and advance housing solutions that include everyone—regardless of immigration status.

We’ll explore:
– Why undocumented immigrants are excluded from key housing programs
– How fear and discrimination drive housing instability
– Local policies and community-based models creating real change

This event is hosted by TechEquity as part of Affordable Housing Month 2021.

Homeownership is considered the epitome of the American Dream; it not only implies housing stability, but is also a key factor in building generational wealth. However, this dream is largely inaccessible to Black Americans; our long-standing history of systematic racism, redlining, segregation, and exclusionary housing policies have stood in the way of Black homeownership for decades. And not much has improved; in the past fifteen years, Black homeownership rates have declined to levels not seen since the 1960s.

On Thursday, May 6th, from 12-1 pm, we’re having a conversation about the history of the racial housing divide, how it impacts the broader wealth gap, and what policy solutions we can advance to create pathways for Black homeownership. The conversation will be moderated by Catherine Bracy, CEO & Co-Founder of TechEquity Collaborative. Panelists TBA.
