Fair Rents, Fair Bills: Understanding Rent & Utility Regulations

Join us for a learning session about San José’s Rent Stabilization Program and possible updates to the city’s rules on how utilities are billed in rental housing (known as Ratio Utility Billing Services, or RUBS).

We’ll break down:

  • What rent stabilization means
  • How RUBS works
  • And what these proposed changes could mean for renters and housing providers

You’ll also learn how to share your feedback and get involved as the city considers these updates and how it can impact you.

Reimagining Home by Renowned Muralist

Paul J Gonzalez

 

SV@Home is thrilled to kick off Silicon Valley Affordable Housing Month 2022, which takes place all throughout the month of May, by unveiling the official AHM 2022 artwork commissioned from San Jose muralist Paul J. Gonzalez.

 

Designed to reflect the diversity of the South Bay in people, in housing, in culture, and in income, this mixed-media creation by Gonzalez and Monika Rose encourages us towards “Reimagining Home” and reflecting on how we can achieve a more affordable, more equitable housing future for all. We are so excited to be partnering with Gonzalez, whose work is well-recognized in the Bay Area. Many of the artist’s works were commissioned for public entities and non-profit organizations and can be found in public places, at schools or on the sides of buildings. Affordable Housing Month May 2022 is a series of educational and engaging events and activities that highlight housing challenges and solutions while providing opportunities for the public to get involved, learn more, and act. SV@Home and dozens of local partners will present over fifty events this year, engaging thousands of residents throughout Santa Clara County and the region both virtually and in person! We are looking forward to invigorating conversations on how we can put Reimagining Home into practice and create the affordable, accessible, and equitable Santa Clara County we want for all our families and our community.
