San Jose’s $450 million housing bond now has a name and title—Measure V. It will provide funding for affordable housing for working families, veterans, teachers, nurses, seniors, people with disabilities, and the homeless.

Earlier in the summer, the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury released a report called “Affordable Housing Crisis: Density is our Destiny,” which declared that “affordable housing is the issue of the day in Santa Clara County” and called for drastic action.

Santa Clara County has announced plans to demolish the old San Jose City Hall Annex, which was acquired from the City following dissolution of the San Jose Redevelopment Agency in 2011 and has stood empty for 12 years.
