San Jose: Council approves additional hearing for affordable housing

Share:

At its Tuesday meeting, the San Jose City Council took action to add an additional General Plan hearing each spring for affordable housing receiving public funding. Recognizing that affordable housing financing deadlines present unique challenges and that the City has met only 7% of its affordable housing goals in the current Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) cycle, Mayor Liccardo and Councilmember Davis proposed the additional hearing to reduce delays in approvals and enable more new homes to be constructed.

SV@Home supports all efforts to streamline the housing development process and appreciates the City’s leadership. See our letter to the Council here.
