One of the events high on our must-attend list is our Happy Housers Happy Hour. Meet our new Executive Director, Regina Celestin Williams, on May 26 for beverages, appetizers, and lively conversation. Our SV@Home policy heroes will also be there to network and brainstorm for the Affordable Housing Future of Silicon Valley. Join us at 5:30 p.m. on May 26 at Enoteca La Storia, 320 St. John St. in San Jose. To register, clickhere.
Another event high on our priority list is SV@Home Action Fund’s Policy in Action event this Friday. The agenda is set to learn why elections are so important to the future of affordable housing in Silicon Valley. Do you know where the local candidates in the June 7 election stand on affordable housing issues? SV@Home’s Action Fund will review the results of recent questionnaires and forums during our Policy in Action event on May 27. Get informed before you make your choice. Policy In Action: Local Elections and Legislative Update, SV@Home Action Fund
The SV@Home Action Fund works to advance effective housing policy both locally and in Sacramento. Join this meeting to hear updates on both of those fronts. Action Fund Board Chair Candice Gonzalez will moderate the discussion, including attendee questions.
In advance of the June 7th Primary Election, the SV@Home Action Fund circulated housing-focused questionnaires to local candidates, and organized a series of candidate forums. The Community Engagement Senior Associate, Cory Wolbach, will summarize what we’ve discovered, and how you can learn more about where candidates stand on housing and homelessness.
One of the most pressing housing issues in Santa Clara County is the effort to provide permanent homes to our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. This Affordable Housing Month, there are a wide variety of educational events on several aspects of our homelessness crisis and the solutions that are getting people housed.
Check out the below events for opportunities to learn about the Community Plan to End Homelessness and Measure A, engage with the root causes of homelessness and those with lived experience, and even go on tours of permanent supportive housing developments. There will also be opportunities to get more involved and take action, including by participating in Destination: Home’s Housing Ready Communities network.
We hope you will join us in the County-wide effort to end homelessness and house our unhoused neighbors throughout May.
