We’d like to welcome this summer’s Housing Justice Interns to the SV@Home team! Over the coming months, they’ll be supporting our current projects and advocacy efforts, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to our work across Silicon Valley! Get to know them below:
Gayoung Couoh Lee (she/her) is a rising senior attending Santa Clara University majoring in Political Science. As a first generation immigrant who has grown up in South Korea, Mexico, and in the United States throughout her life, she has built a wide diversity of perspectives that align with SV@Home’s vision and mission. Gayoung wishes to incorporate these life learnings and her academic background into her internship with SV@Home this summer. She is deeply passionate about advocacy, equity, and public policy work, where she will further dive into working with SV@Home. She aspires to have a career in law and public service, to help create a more inclusive systematic system for those who are marginalized and underrepresented. Gayoung hopes to create communities where they feel advocated for and committed to breaking down barriers for marginalized groups, amplifying their voices, and creating a meaningful change. During her time at SV@Home, Gayoung will be working on a Community-Based Development (CBD) Policy Case Report and Tracker to support the development of our programs like the Community Roots Collaborative. She will research informational interviews with different stakeholders in CBD groups and drafting the policies and findings in an informative case report.
