AHM is the time to bring people together so that we can all transform our communities into more diverse, affordable, equitable, and accessible places to live — which brings us to this year’s theme of #4Us4You4All, recognizing that our well-being is tied to the well-being of our neighbors.
In 2024, we are leading a transformational region-wide bond measure that works towards housing for everyone in our community. This year is about moving housing affordability beyond the creation of affordable homes for individuals to the realization of stable neighborhoods for whole communities – a vision going beyond housing as a human right to one of healing and restoration for us, for you, and for all.
That is why during this year’s Affordable Housing Month, we will be lifting up local partner programming to demonstrate the breadth and depth of the affordable housing ecosystem in Santa Clara County and the strength of our collective work. The future we envision for the Bay Area begins with us.

2022 #ReimaginingHome
During the entire month of May, SV@Home convened our region’s housing partners to host dozens of virtual workshops, webinars, and creative community engagement opportunities to educate, activate, and engage advocates and the general public around the housing challenges facing our community and the solutions we can pursue together. Our theme this year, Reimagining Home, invited participants to think outside of the box, deepen their knowledge, and join together to shift the collective perspective on building equitable, inclusive, restorative communities.

Recap 2020: Be My Neighbor
In 2020, our fifth annual public education and awareness campaign pivoted from a weeks-long to a month-long program with creative community engagement opportunities, in a time when the importance of a secure, safe, and affordable home has become even more crucial.
The global pandemic, coupled with our ongoing housing challenges, has made for a public health crisis at unprecedented scale. Yet even as we practice physical distancing, we are seeing in magnified ways how much we rely on the people, nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies around us for our individual and societal well-being.
Full of virtual events, activities for all ages, and invigorating conversations, AHM 2020 brought our community together to learn, engage, and act on how we can work to make Silicon Valley a more affordable place to live for all of our residents. We highlighted not only our housing challenges, but also dug into the solutions we are building together, with workshops, game nights, and more! View event recordings here.
You also joined the conversation during the Month by participating in our #BeMyNeighbor story share. We invited you to share a fond memory of a neighbor, whether from present day or your childhood, with the hashtag #BeMyNeighbor so we could share and highlight your story during Affordable Housing Month.
